About NBU exchange rates

The National Bank of Ukraine sets official hryvnia exchange rates daily — except weekends and public holidays. This rate applies to accounting, customs payments, taxes, and any operation requiring an official reference. Commercial banks and exchange offices use their own rates — typically 1–3% off the official figure, plus a commission.

NBU rate vs interbank vs exchange office

  • NBU rate (official) — for contracts, taxes, accounting. Fixed at 14:00 every business day.
  • Interbank rate — between commercial banks, floats during the day, close to NBU.
  • Exchange office rate — with spread for profit. Buy rate is typically 0.5–1.5 UAH above NBU; sell rate is below by the same.
